Yesterday was a good day to be a Canadian, but beyond that, it was a good day to be a Canadian artist.

6 weeks!

First, go take a look at my recently-updated portfolio page. I’ve finally got a good chunk of the documentation from this summer up there — and I must be really on the ball, because Waiting for Lefty, which only closed two days ago, is already up!

Of course, January is coming fast, and I’m starting to send out resumes and job applications like crazy, so I’ve been doing a little housekeeping to make sure that the place is all neat and tidy for those unexpected guests who might pop by and use their visit to evaluate me on some level.

Speaking of things coming up quickly, there are seven weeks left of this semester. Seven! (If there were a few more “seven”s in there, I’d be making a Friends reference, but I assure you, it’s coincidental.) Which really means six. There aren’t any classes in the last week of the semester, and Colin will be flying down sometime during the beginning of the week, so I’m planning to have no more work left to do by then anyway. Six weeks.

Things are coming along well, though. I had a great meeting last week with Dale Savidge, Executive Director of CITA (Christians in Theatre Arts), and I sat in on a round-table discussion at Fuller Theological Seminary with Dale and Todd Johnson, co-authors of Performing the Sacred (a book which I highly recommend, by the way). Good connections, the possibility for some collaborations at some point down the road, and a few hours of great conversation to kick me back into gear and give me some clarity and direction for my final project.

Exciting stuff. There’s still so much to do and so many people to talk to — what I hand in on December… whenever I hand it in… will just be the beginning of this project. The idea is to create the first draft of something that I can continue working on to make publishable, and maybe, some months down the road, that’s where it’ll go. We’ll see. In the meantime, it’s the perfect project for me to understand my field better and be able to be a better advocate for this work.
